| What should I bring to my first class? -----Workout clothes, a bottle of water, and a towel. (Fees- if you plan on becoming a member the first day.) What can expect from the first class? Muscles will be sore from an awesome workout, but this should be expected when starting a new activity. Do I have to be flexible? -----No, but we warm up and stretch before class, and we do a final stretch after class. This routine is great for developing your flexibility over time. How long will it take for me to learn the basics? ----Basic movements can be learn by a full-time student (three classes a week) in about three months. Can Capoeira really be used for self defense? ----Yes, and here at Capoeira Academy Okinawa you will learn and train the practical application of each technique along with the more dance-like movements. |
| How long does it take to earn your first belt? -----Earning your first belt can be earned in as little as a month. Thereafter, it is up to the student to progress. Capoeira Academy Okinawa gives out belts for improvement, not for attendance, however, class attendance is definitely needed to improve. What all will I learn? -----Students learn martial arts, music and dance, and various requirements for each aspect of the curriculum is included at each belt testing stage. How can I join the performance team? Any member can try out for the performance team. All that is needed is class/practice attendance, and having the performance routine down. |
